Freqtrade is one of the most popular free, open-source crypto trading bots. It is written in Python and aimed at traders who are comfortable with code: you write your strategy in Python using pandas, download historical market data, backtest it, and optimise its parameters with hyperparameter optimisation (Hyperopt). Its FreqAI module adds machine-learning based strategy development.
You can run strategies in Dry-Run mode with simulated money before going live, then control and monitor the bot through Telegram or a web UI (start and stop it, check profit and loss, daily summaries and open trades). It supports spot trading and, on several exchanges, futures with leverage and short selling. The project is very active, with new releases most months.
Good for: technical traders and developers who want full control and no subscription. Trade-off: you need to install and run it yourself (Docker is the quickest route) and basic Python knowledge is strongly recommended.
